Programming and Performance
The EC Anime Club is a chance to celebrate the media that that reached the US from the Japanese based sub culture that focuses on animation, music, and comics. Each semester, the EC Anime Club presents a series of showings in Miller Auditorium that include both live action and animated films from Japan, Korea, and China. These showings are seen in the original language with English subtitles and are open to the public.
The goal of this club is to expand film literacy throughout the Eckerd Community by screening a broad range of influential films which have withstood the test of time. Movies shown will range from the 1930's to the 1970's, with focus being on films that have influenced our common lexicon and culture, but may not have been viewed widely by a modern audience. Discussions will be lead before and after the screening of each film in order to expand general knowledge of the American cinema and to encourage cross-generational conversations about this art form between students, faculty, and ASPEC members.
