Acceptable forms of Advertising on Eckerd College Campus

Keep in mind that All clubs have signed the Posting Policy

  • Channel 7

Send an email to ecospr@eckerd.edu with the following:

  •  
    • Single-slide powerpoint presentation (ppt)
      (if you need, all computers in the Library computer lab have powerpoint installed.)
    • Date you want slide to start showing
    • Date of Event (last day slide will show)

please note: ONLY Clubs and ECOS events may be posted on channel 7, except with approval of the ECOS president.

  • Flush

send an email to flush@eckerd.edu by 5 PM Monday of the week you want the announcement to go out.
Please include the following:

  •  
    • Time + Date of event
    • Event Location
    • Description

*The Flush is posted weekly on Thursdays*

  • Mailboxes

contact Tim Couet (couettd@eckerd.edu) to arrange a table and chairs to be set up in front of the mailboxes

  • Posters

As per the posting policy, all posters must be approved by Campus Activities.

send your email to either clubs@eckerd.edu or students@eckerd.edu

(keep in mind that, since these are moderated mailing lists, it may take up to 1 business day for your email to be approved)

Posting Policy:

Please note, this text comes directly from page 5 of the ECOS Club information packet, which may be found on the Documents page.

In recognition of the rights of Eckerd College community members to advertise events, protest peacefully, and express opinions, while at the same time maintaining an attractive campus, posters and signs may only be hung on campus in accordance with the following guidelines:

  1. Material such as posters, fliers, or signs must be approved by Campus Activities and be posted in pre-approved locations
  2. The name of the person(s) or recognized College organization responsible must appear on the poster
  3. All materials must be removed within forty-eight hours after the scheduled event, with the understanding that the sponsoring group is responsible for the removal. If the responsible organization or person(s) do not remove poster with forty-eight hours, Facilities Management may charge the group or person(s) for removal
  4. All posting materials are to be created in good taste; should not involve the use of obscenities; and should not be slanderous or malicious
  5. The hanging of material involves no defacement of College or personal property
  6. Posters are only to be hung on bulletin boards and freestanding kiosks. No material may be attached to windows or painted surfaces, and sidewalks may not be defaced. (This includes the use of chalk, crayon, markers, etc.)
  7. The posters or signs may be hung on the bulletin boards inside the residence hall or designated buildings. Under special circumstances, posting will be allowed in other locations with prior approval from the Dean of Students
  8. Advertising will not promote the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Promotional material, including advertising for any College social event, will not make reference to, or include symbols related to, alcohol.
